Lasting Memories Challenge - "Leaving Footprints Behind"

Okay so this layout is almosttttt too late! I almost missed my own challenge! lol
I did something totally different this week, it was definitely a challenge for me!

The challenge this week over at Lasting Memories is:
"Leaving Footprints Behind"
We want to see some kind of footprints on your layout. Idea's: people, animal tracks, birds, etc. as long as it leaves footprints :)

For my layout I used all paper from Graphic 45 and that was a challenge in and of itself! The papers are so beautiful I didn't want to use them or cut them up, I was scared! lol But what d'ya know, I ended up grunging and distressing and ripping and tearing them ha!

Here is what I did:
I cut the big shape in the background from CC Lacy Labels and distressed the edges with TH distress ink in Walnut Stain. I also distressed and ripped the edges of the striped paper with my scissors. I fussy cut the entire 12x12 page in half to get the zigzag of flowers out of the middle of the page (ahhh) I was so scared I was going to mess up and ruin the pretty paper!

I used a die cut of TH clock dies out of chip board that I inked and sprayed with black, gold, silver, and walnut ink. Then topped of with a pearly brad. For my main attraction (my footprints) I took a baby footprint stamp with both feet and placed a piece of tape over the other foot whenever I was stamping with one. First I stamped with distress ink Walnut stain and then I went over it and stamped with embossing ink and embossed clear embossing powder over each foot to look like they were walking across my page. I reallyyyyy like how good these turned out and using the embossing powder really made them stand out since they are black on black almost

I also fussy cut my little saying and the lock and key from another page, ouchh! But I love it. I slid the key in the keyhole and it fit perfectly so I kept it that way lol I like it! My flowers are cut from a flower punch and stacked two flowers on top of each other and a pearl in the center. I made them dimensional by curling each petal around a paintbrush end then staggered the petals when I stacked them

I used some tiny Prima letters and some K&Co Grand Adhesion letters. I have never found the perfect project to use these busy letters on until now and I'm glad I had them! :)

I hope you will come play along you have until this Saturday June 2 for your chance to win 5 digi's from DigiDarla!

Little Scraps of Heaven Challenge -- Card sketch

I hope everyone had a super fun Memorial day weekend!

This week over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs the challenge is to make a card using our card sketch!
How fun!

My sister's 19th birthday was on May 19th, so for her card this year I asked her which of all the LSH designs I had was her favorite and she picked Belle. I think it is so sweet that all she wants from me each year is a handmade card :)

Here is my take on the sketch
(sketch will follow)
I used the "Dress me like a Princess" file by LSHD

My own prima flower, you can see my video here and some sparkle brads

I cut out her crown from the Storybook cricut cart and embellished with some bling

And here is the sketch for you to follow along for your chance to win!

After you link up your card be sure to visit our fanpage on facebook! We would love to see your cards! You have until next Sunday!

Getting Scrappy Challenge - Girly!

Well my post is up a little late, Getting Scrappy's Challenge actually started on Sunday but I had finals this week so I just now was able to finish it up and get it photographed :)

This week the challenge to create a fun girly layout!

Here is my layout:

I used echo park paper for my background, tag, photo mats, and little bear's bathing suit and title from the Little Girl collection, the rest is recollection and scraps

My little girl bear is Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, from the Pool Time Fun set, as well as the sun. She is inked with walnut stain distress ink on craft paper.

Also from LSHD Pool time fun set

I used Simply Sweet cricut cart for my title and welded the shadow letters together using CCR. Then I fussy cut the green layer and popped it up for dimension :)

I hope you will come join us over at Getting Scrappy! We love seeing your layouts!

Little Scraps of Heaven Designs Challenge - Make It Large!

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Monday which means another Little Scraps of Heaven Designs Challenge!

This week our challenge is to create a layout with a very LARGE paper piecing. We want your main paper piecing to be 10"-12" tall.

This challenge was so fun for me and all of the design teams layouts came out soooo super cute! Check them out on the blog or on the facebook fanpage to get inspiration :)

Here is my layout;
I started with EP paper and of course my little LSHD paper piecing. I used the "cute cookie" file and sized him up to 10". I cut an extra cookie to use as a mat for my title. I misted my background with a light blue but it is so light that you can barely tell. After uploading my picture I decided to add a little orange bow to my bear as well to make this page a little more girly since this is Kenzie and because of all the blue and she has no clothes on she looks like a little boy ;) This was back when she was 9 months old. She looooved those Gerber Arrow Root cookies so much that she almost ALWAYS had a cookie crumb face! I thought this file went great!

I welded my shadow letters in my Cricut Design Studio from the simply sweet cartridge. Then my top layer I dipped on by one into some silver glitter after running it through my xyron.. man was that a pain!! It came out soooo beautiful though so I guess it was worth it! ;)

And one last close up of my cute little cookie monster bear :)

I hope you will join us and enter for your chance to win!

Lasting Memories Challenge - "Celebrating Mom's or Someone Special"

It's Sunday again which means another challenge over at Lasting Memories!

This week our challenge is "Celebrating Mom's or Someone Special"
Show us how you celebrate Mother's day or celebrate that special someone

For my layout I used a collage of pictures of Kenzie and I that we got done for Mother's day :)
I started with EP as my background

I used my own color or glimmer mist, using pink acrylic paint, white shimmer paint, and pink perfect pearls in water and spritzed it in a heart shape pattern to mimic the pattern on the paper. In the upper right I cut a bent v shape to mimic the shape of the top of a heart and lined it with pearls

These beauties are by Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, "A Mother's Love" paper piecings. I added some pearls in their bows and a necklace for mama bear, my title is also part of the same set.

I tried something totally new for me this week as well! I made my very own stick pins! I love love love these!! I also used some recollections flowers and a little Doodlebug Designs "Oh my words" tile, so cute!

I hope you will join us this week over at Lasting Memories!

Lasting Memories Challenge - "Something Smells Fishy"

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories is a really fun one!!
"Something Smells Fishy"
Use some kind of fishing idea/technique this week!
Ideas: fishing day, catch of the day, fishy images, hook/net right on your layout, etc.

Here is my take on the challenge :)
I had sooo much fun! First of all I made my very own color of glimmer mist! I mixed up some aqua colored paint with some shimmer white paint and added perfect pearls in Blue Raspberry, you can't see the glimmer in the picture but when I took it out into the sun to take the picture it was so shiny! I also used the same color to splatter some paint on the page, but they came out a little darker, that's ok it adds dimension :) Second I used a spray adhesive to adhere some of Kenzie's sand out of her sandbox (Shhhh.. Don't tell her!) Then I hit it with some Matte Finish by Krylon to keep the sand from rubbing off, it worked like magic! I tried so many different ways to get that to work! And last but not least I used an olddddd scrubby loofah from my bathtub and cut a piece our to act as my "fishing net" behind my photo, I love how this page came out! So creative don't you think? :)
This is Kenzie at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Beach in California, her very first time at the beach :)
I kept it super simple as far as paper goes, I only used white and the one piece of seafoam green in the rip of the paper.

I used Prima tiny letters for my words and twine from the twinery

The big flower is recollections, the one on the left is Prima and the one on the bottom that is acrylic is Ruby Violet by Prima. I added some tiny shells to tie in with my sand and some prima pearls

A TH vial with some sand and a glimmer misted piece of paper inside for my "note in a bottle" and a charm

Prima candy gems (again) I love these!

A little Paper Bliss tag and metal accent sticker and a close up of my "net" :)

I hope you will join us this week! It was so much fun playing with all the different materials!

I am entering this into the misting challenge over at ScrapFit

Little Scraps of Heaven Challenge - Scenery

Welcome to my very first project post as a
"Little Scraps of Heaven Designs" Design Team Member!! :D

I am so excited to show you my layout for this challenge! The challenge this week is "Scenery", make a 1 or 2 page layout using LSHD paper piecings, and make it look like a scene.. Be sure to visit the design team blog for more inspiration and to link up your layout by May 20th, for your chance to win $20 in LSHD patterns!

Here is my layout:
I used the "Sandbox Play" pattern on my layout and pictures of Kenzie playing in the sand box at the park on Easter Sunday

I cut this little guy and all the pieces by hand, YES, I SAID BY HAND! I haven't got any other kind of machine to cut svg's yet but I found scal2 on ebay and now I'm just playing the waiting game for it to come in the mail and (cross my fingers!) hope it works!

Here is a close up of the cute little sun :)

Wasn't that adorable! :) I love LSHD paper piecings! I can't wait to show you more as the DT term goes on!

Hope to see your work on the blog as well, so head on over!

Happy Mother's Day

I did something different this year for my mom :)

I made a bouquet of flower pens for her office in a personalized mug with her and Kenzie at the beach printed right on it :) She loveddddd it! (And so do I!) hehe

I bought a small bouquet of plastic flowers from Michaels and snipped each stem off. Then I used floral tape and attached each one to a separate pen. This was so quick and easy, and they look FANTASTIC!

I also cut a 2.75" tag and stamped "You are Loved" on it and tied it onto the mug with twine. On the back it says "top 12 reasons why I love you"

On each stem I attached a little 1.25" tag with twine with different reasons why I love my mom :)

The mug has 3 different pictures that were taken at the beach just a week or two ago in Santa Cruz, CA

Isn't this so pretty!?

Top view of all the flowers. I'm so happy that my mom loved and now she won't lose her pens all the time! :)

Thanks for looking!

Lasting Memories Challenge - Digging for metal!

This week over at Lasting Memories our challenge for all of you is "Digging for Metal!"
I love this challenge! I finally got to break out my Tim Holtz and grungify!

For my layout I started a new album that I have the honor of making for someone's wedding! The style they want is using the Once Upon a Time stack by DCWV which is GORGEOUS but very challenging to work with since the papers are so busy and pretty with glitter and ink splotches and images. I can tell I am going to have fun with this :)

Here is my layout, for some reason I chose to start with the end first... lol
This was a very quick and classic page for me, I finished it in only 2 hours which is veryyyyyy fast compared to some of my other ones. But that is what is so great about these papers, you don't need to do much to them to make beautiful pages! I matted my photos on white cardstock, inked them with coordinating browns and tied some jute, done! I'm so proud of this layout and so far she LOVES IT!

Here is a Tim Holtz time piece popped up on glue dots

Some jute I bought at Wal-mart and a metal embossed charm by Making Memories

A metal Tim Holtz hinge clip tied with some jute, to clip on my journaling bag/tag. The little paper bag is by Canvas Corps. Sooooo cute! and stamped with a date stamp for her to fill in

I left the tag blank so she can fill in her own story, I inked the edges and misted it with some gold Perfect Pearls and stamped with a Hampton Art stamp. I finished it off with some purple ribbon, held on by tiny attacher staples by TH

I hope my digging for metal page has inspired you to come join us over at Lasting Memories!

Happy Scrapping!

Getting Scrappy Challenge - Let's Celebrate!

It's been a while since I've been at my scrapping desk and let me tell you I'm loving it! I finally feel more creative, I think I need a bigger desk and that is why I have been avoiding it LOL my stash just keeps growing and it's getting harder to navigate through all the piles! And to top it off I was too busy playing all the NSD games yesterday that I didn't get a single page finished! But I did get a lot of inspiration and I think that finally kicked my butt back in to gear and I can't wait to show you what I have planned! :)

Back to your original programming!

Welcome to another

For the next 2 weeks our challenge is "Let's Celebrate Come On!" Scrap about a celebration (anniversary, birthday, etc.)

I chose to scrap Kenzie's first birthday studio shot :)
She is leaning up against a big number 1, it's white on white, so it's very hard to see.. Isn't she a doll!?

My title was cut from the Storybook cart at 2.5"

I got my inspiration from Jamie over at Jaylynnscraps, she is a flower GENIUS! She has the most amazing work I have ever seen using so many mediums and flowers!
I used some Prima beauties; the two bigger pink flowers, Say it in Pearls (bling) and the candy gems (LOVEEE)!
My other flowers are recollections from M's

The flower on the top is Prima and the lower one is Recollections

My butterflies are a MS punch with bling on each one (and here is a closeup of those prima candy gems i mentioned, arent they gorgeous!?)

Please come over and Celebrate with us at Getting Scrappy!
You have two weeks to win Tim Holtz's spring ink pads!

Challenges I'm entering:
Getting Scrappy - Celebrate
Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday Challenge - Choose 4 of the 8;
Flower, Butterfly, Glitter(on flowers), Stickers(bling)

Happy Scrapping!

Quick "how to follow" tip

Lately it seems that google and blogger have been having drama with each other again and google has disabled the "follow" button from the nav bar when visiting other blogs.

Not to worry! I have a temporary fix! (hopefully google fixes this soon)..

You can do one of the following:
-follow them by the followers widget on their blog if they have one
-follow them by email if you would like to have them emailed to your priority email
-copy the blog link at the top of the page, then go to your dashboard and click on "add" on the left side. Then simply paste the blog link in the top box and click follow.

For some reason my browser (chrome) will not let me view any "followers" widgets and I get an error message ON EVERY BLOG so I have been doing the 3rd option, and it works very well. Not as quick as the one click follow, but it gets the job done :)

I hope I have helped at least one person, by either being able to follow a blog you really love, or by getting you that extra follower that didn't know how to follow you :)

Hopefully google and blogger kiss and make up soon :)
